Slow Food Mildura works with organisations that share our goals and values and are part of the broader “food movement”. We do this mainly at the local level, but also at regional, national and international levels where appropriate. Organisations we partner with include:
The Sunraysia Farmers Market provides a direct link between our regions’ food producers and consumers. We support the market with regular cooking demonstrations using fresh local ingredients sourced from the market on the day.
Sunraysia Local Food Future is supported through a partnership between Slow Food Mildura, the Open Food Foundation and Healthy Together Mildura and has begun as part of the Thrive initiative to drive healthy food access and support large scale change to local food systems across multiple Victorian communities. Thrive is funded by the Victorian government to support community-led food enterprises linking producers to consumers.
We have partnered with Sunraysia Fruit and Vegetable Swap, a community food swap program organising fortnightly get-togethers where people swap home grown produce, share information and learn more about growing fruit and vegetables.
We are a member of the Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance and supported its work by purchasing and screening a copy of the Fair Food documentary in 2015.
